The art of animation is different from the art of movies since it born, because of thedeformation characteristic which belongs to the interframe of animation. The content ofanimation graphs strongly represents the subjectivity and the aesthetics. But along with thecinematic developments of the mainstream animation and the narrative demands of theanimation content, the deformation art which include the traditional animation graduallydisappeared, and largely ignored the representative and the explorer of the artistic form. After weaccessed the global digital age, especially under the powerful effect of the digital intermediaryand the appearance of the modern movie special effects technology, the limit between theanimation art and the movie art became more and more vague. In such a situation, it’s necessaryto discuss the art of animation deformation. The deformation is not only the most fundamentalproperty of animation, but also the unique narrative language to distinguish animation frommovie. The narrative language has two different functions which contain the expressiveness andthe narrative. The expressiveness includes in the animation which has continuous scenario, thenarrative includes in scenarios transitions. The narrative deformation distinguishes the scenariotransitions from the movie montage. Thus, it shows the features of continuous visual. At the same time, the animation in digital medium form takes advantage of the cameraprojection technique, in order to simulate the technique of movement full-length shot whichapply to movies, it makes the animation changed the disadvantages of the past in the ability thatexpression of the space. With the three-dimensional perspective of the deformation, it create akind of continuous deformation transition effects which are moving shot and animationdeformation roll into one. It enriches the animated narrative language. Meanwhile, it explores anew form of the artistic expression.
