As a kind of literature style, the Wall-scribed Poems were beloved by theancient Chinese people for its special existing patterns. And it is also anintegrated and creative activity which gathers many kinds of gifts and skillstogether. In general situations, relatively solid natural existences like solid andvertical walls, stone walls, corridors and pillars were usually used as the maincarrier of the Wall-scribed Poems. It also can be written by almost any kind ofwriting tools made of any kind of materials. The Wall-scribed Poems attractedpeople’s special attention for their carefree creating styles which enabled thiskind of poems maintained a quite different and mysterious fascination. Theinitial forms of this kind of poem were difficult to preserve and seldom ofthem were remained until today. With being selected and sensed, somehigh-quality and serious Wall-scribed Poems were collected and recruited. Inthis process, this kind of literature style was revised as well as improvedconstantly and became splendid at last. And it was handed down fromancient times as a crucial part of Chinese ancient literature.The Wall-scribed poems appeared before the Tang Dynasty and becamepopular in the Tang Dynasty. What’s more, the Wall-scribed poems in theTang Dynasty were huge-volume and high-quality. They embodied thefeatures and meanings of the flourishing times. The Wall-scribed poemsbecame so famous and popular were not out of accident but due to thefollowing factors such as the social factors, the whole social atmosphere ofpreferring poems, the exerting writing subjects and the Imperial Examinationswhich aimed at selecting excellent and outstanding talents were worked outand carried out by the Tang Dynasty, the popular trend of studying away fromhome or abroad, the romantic rambling preference as well as the developmentof this kind of poems.This thesis also lays emphasis on the writing compositions of theWall-scribed poems, except that the classification based on people’s differentsocial status, the author also analyses the poems from another five perspectives. The Wall-scribed poems contain great value in thoughts as wellas special artistic features. The author found that forebears seldom analyze theartistic features of the Wall-scribed poems, therefore, this thesis is a creativeachievement. At last, this thesis mainly analyzes the social spread functions ofthe Wall-scribed poems from four aspects and the limits of its spread meansfrom two aspects. The thesis uses predecessors’ references combined with theauthor’s opinions.
