As we know, Vocabulary learning is the most important of the three major parts of the language learning, and therefore, vocabulary learning is thought to be the most important in language acquisition. The famous linguist David Wilkins has ever expressed the importance of vocabulary learning. For most second language learners, it is believed that the biggest problem is the vocabulary is too small. With the requirements on increasingly vocabulary becoming higher and higher, Training students’ vocabulary learning strategies becomes an important approach to solve the problem. Since the1990s, after tests and researches, many researchers realized that vocabulary strategies must be focused on more.Most of the researches on vocabulary learning strategies are carried out at universities and colleges but few are at junior high schools.In this study conducted about the students of Grade nine, the following instruments are adopted:a questionnaire of vocabulary learning belief, two vocabulary knowledge tests and the entrance examination of senior high schools of ZhongShan in2012. The data is based on the data of the questionnaire, the students’ grades of two tests and the marks of entrance examination. the data and the analyses on the study reveal:1) Students with higher English levels in are better than those with lower English levels at using learning strategies;2)Students’ vocabulary learning strategies are positively correlated with their vocabulary sizes;3) Students’ grades of the entrance examination of senior high schools are positively correlated with the vocabulary sizes.
