Vocabulary learning is an important part in any language learning.It's closely related to listening,speaking,reading and writing.If there is no word,language will not exist.It takes a lot of time in daily English study for students to remember and understand words and phrases.However,vocabulary teaching is a small part in a teacher's teaching task.Because of the indifference of vocabulary teaching in class,students often spend most time repeating and copying after class so that they gain little.By applying associative learning strategies to vocabulary teaching in the first grade in senior high school,this thesis mainly focuses on two questions:(1)Can associative learning strategies arouse first-year senior high school students' interest in learning English vocabulary?(2)Can associative learning strategies improve first-year senior high school students'English learning achievement?Based on previous researches related to associative learning strategies at home and abroad and guided by the theories of deep processing of information,a 14-week experiment is carried out in two normal classes of Senior First at a high school in Guiyang.In the experimental class,classification,associating and situation associative learning strategies are used in vocabulary teaching to explore the application of associative learning strategies in vocabulary teaching from the presentation of new words to vocabulary consolidation.Then,corresponding exercises are used to consolidate memory repeatedly.While traditional teaching method is applied to the controlled class.In addition to experiments,questionnaires are used to understand the changes in students' interest in learning.Statistics are collected and analyzed by SPSS25.0.The results of this experiment show that associative learning strategies can arouse students' interest in vocabulary study;it can enhance students' vocabulary learning ability and memory capacity,and significantly improve the use of English knowledge,and have a positive impact on reading.Through vocabulary teaching of associative learning strategies,students'vocabulary learning ability is significantly improved,which has better effect than traditional method.The author suggests that teachers of high schools should try to train students to learn associative learning strategies in teaching.And it will be good for students to develop self-studying ability.
