Core self-evaluation is a more higher level personality concept of self, environment and therelationship evaluation of them, it is individuals most basic evaluation of their own ability andvalue, and also, it consists of four factors, which are self-esteem, general self-efficacy,neuroticism and internal control.The future orientation refers to individuals’ cognitive preferencesand volitional action tendencies for the future, also includes subjective emotional experienceforming on this basis, and it contains three characteristics: cognitive, emotion and will.Based on many references, this study gave a theoretical construction of female graduate students’future orientation, and formed a questionnaire. Using this future orientation questionnaire andsome other questionnaires about core self-evaluation, we investigated353female graduates ofthree universities in Shenyang, and then, we would explore the features of female graduates’ coreself-evaluation and future orientation, as well as the relationship between them.Results:1.The three factors constitute the future orientation of the female graduate students are: futurecognitive, future positive affection, and future will of action tendencies. Also, our female graduatefuture orientation questionnaire has high reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool formeasuring the future orientation of female graduate students.2.For each factor of female graduates’ core self-evaluation, the member of the middle-level groupare the most, and member of high-level and low-level groups are relatively small. The factors offemale graduates’ core self-evaluation have significant difference in grade, age and profession,but no significant differences in area, work experience and training form. In detail: in the internalcontrol factor, there are significant differences for female graduates of different ages and differentgrades; in neuroticism factor, there were significant differences for different mayor.3.Overall, female graduate students have a higher degree of future orientation, with high levels ofcognitive, affective and volitional action tendency for their own future, and they compose ahealthy, positive group. This study also shows that: some sub-factors of female graduates’ future orientation have significant differences in age, work experience, profession and training form; Ingrade and area, there are no significant differences either on total score or on the varioussub-factors of future orientation.4.There are significant correlation between female graduates’ core self-evaluation and futureorientation. Also, each factor of core self-evaluation has a predictive effect on future orientation.The female graduate student’s self-esteem, general self-efficacy and internal control canpositively predict their future orientation, specially, the general self-efficacy factor has thehighest predictive effect.
