As we know, language and culture are interdependent with each other, whichmakes English educators attach great importance to the role of culture in Englishteaching. Otherwise, only the target language culture are emphasized in ELT, on thecontrary, the learners’ home culture is ignored, resulting their incompetence ofconveying native culture in English, which is considered as an obstacle of theintercultural communication. The term "aphasia of Chinese culture" in the field of FLTwas first presented by Professor Cong Cong (2000) to describe the fact that Englishlearners’ incompetence of conveying Chinese culture in English when in interculturalcommunication attributed to their lack of Chinese culture, which results from anignorance of Chinese culture implementation in FLT.Within decades, there emerge some new majors of foreign-related medicalspecialty in various medical colleges and universities to meet the emergent needs ofinternational medical market. The ELT in medical schools centers on not onlydeveloping a good command of English linguistic competence, but also cultivating theman ability to meet the needs of intercultural communication. Unavoidably, thephenomenon of “Chinese culture aphasia” also arises in the process of learning Englishin foreign-related medical specialty.It is a rising researching subject in ELT enlightening on how to improveforeign-related medical specialties’ intercultural communicative competence concerningboth target language culture and the proficiency of expressing home culture in Englishin medical school.It is still another arising focus in college English teaching that how shall the learners take good commands of the culture expressiveness competence in an effectiveway and which kind of variety of English, Standard English or other English variety,could be employed to convey the unique Chinese culture vividly. As early as in1980, GeChuangui, a Chinese scholar, first put forward the concept of “China English” in hisarticle A Talk on Chinese-English Translation, in which he contends that much attentionshould be put to distinguishing China English from Chinglish. By “China English”, itmeans that based on normative English, China English carry on the unique Chinesecharacteristics arranging from vocabulary, sentence structures, to discourse, having builttheir way into the English communication by mean of translation, transliteration, andsemantic creation. The aim of China English is to express the unique characteristics inChinese culture, without which the intercultural communication hardly reach to the fulllength.On the basis of the survey for the phenomenon of Chinese culture aphasia offoreign-related medical specialty in college English learning, the author explore thenecessity and possibility of implementation of Chinese culture into ELT, as well asdevelop an effective approach to Chinese culture teaching by means of China English.
