Text-decoration on the ceramic objectively existed since ancient times, though its development is very slow. However, the combination of text and ceramics reached a perfect fit at the Ming and Qing Dynasties, which has been completed in practice while the theoretical study has not been paid attention to. The professional references about ceramic calligraphy in Ming and Qing Dynasties is relatively dispersed, which have no systematic research data but text information and pictures limited to local research. This paper collates and analyzes ceramics calligraphy in Ming and Qing Dynasties on the overall view and focuses on classification research based on the historical and cultural background of the community at that time.First, this paper gives a presentation appearance and development on the Ancient ceramic calligraphy, and analyzes the reason of the prosperity of ceramic calligraphy in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Ceramic calligraphy as a ceramic decorative pattern in the Ming and Qing Dynasties height development in the final analysis, is the ceramic technology improvement and the prosperity of commodity economy. In the context of social, political, economic and cultural, the comprehensive development of ceramic technology is also directly related to the prosperity of the ceramic calligraphy. Second, the traditional calligraphy and painting directly affected the ceramic decoration while emperors and literati directly involved in ceramic production. This paper contacts the heritage of the development of the ceramic technology, expounds the evolution of the ceramics calligraphy, and comprehensively accounts the various factors for the prosperity of the ceramic calligraphy in Ming and Qing Dynasties.This paper focuses on the Ming and Qing Dynasties ceramic calligraphy decorative form and content characteristics according to the introduction and commentary of ceramic inscription in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The inscription of ceramic in the Ming and Qing Dynasties can mainly divide into three categories: independent text-decoration, combined decoration of text and ornamentation decoration, combined decoration of painting and calligraphy. Based on the document record and summary of the development of ceramic calligraphy of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a systemly collation and analysis on practice, aesthetic, culture, secularity, locality has been achieved, and also a complete and clear display. A summary of the influence of ceramic calligraphy on the development of future generations has been given to display the ceramic calligraphy in the Ming and Qing Dynasties completely and clearly.
