Based on the analysis of the artistic characteristics and cultural root causes of carved horn decoration in Ming and Qing dynasties,this paper discusses the characteristics of carved horn decoration in each period of Ming and Qing dynasty and the cultural implications behind it.Angle carving in Ming and Qing dynasties was the golden age of the art of Angle carving.Shape on to Dan,take Kua,kitchenware,if form is given priority to,such as animals,plants,landscapes and figures.Its shape,grain,carver as the literati,and the participation of the emperor,and jade,teeth,bamboo,wood and other technology mutual penetration,gradually from the early Ming dynasty grain simple simple,modelling is not much to the modelling of the late Ming is diverse,landscape character and poetic works more mature,to the late Qing dynasty grain technology coarse,drab.From the early Ming dynasty to the late Qing dynasty,it shows the rich cultural implication of Chinese ancestors' place in Angle carvings,namely,thoughts of praying for good fortune and seeking prosperity--longing for a better life,totem worship--sustenance of power spirit,thriving population--worship of reproduction and religious belief--yearning for a world of eternal life.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part is an overview of the history of Angle carving.the second part introduces the Ming and Qing dynasties horn carving craft and shape,the third part is the focus of the full text,mainly to the harpy eagle decorative plants,animals,lines,the character of grain and other grain appearance with symbolic meaning has made the thorough analysis,and combined closely with the social environment at that time,to find the decorative behind conveys social significance;The fourth part is to analyze the cultural factors of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism carried by Angle carvings in combination with the changes of social trends of thought and aesthetic fashion at that time.
