These autobiographies use their life track weaved a colorful historical picture scroll.This thesis is started from the record of literary history and the expression of personal life of the Chinese modern literary autobiography, therefore the overall consideration of the thesis logic is as follows:Colorful personal writings constitute grand history writing, and as it started from the perspective of self-writing, modern literary autobiographies as repositories of history embody strong humanistic feelings.First of all, the thesis try to study modern literary autobiographies’special writing which is indifferent from the traditional historical writing. As a style type which came from the western, although autobiography is advocated, accepted and imitated by the modern literati, it is not familiar with them. Writers created their works resort their own understanding and writing habits, which made modern literati autobiography has obvious personalized temperament. The difference of family background, social career and life experience give rise to the different focus of these autobiographies of each autobiographer. In spite of this, all these autobiographies together build the education pattern, family relationships and people’s outlook and so on in that historical period.Secondly, this thesis has analyzed this kind of autobiographies’internal characteristics as literary works on the basis of historical writing. For these autobiographers are mostly the pioneers of modern Chinese culture, so they were also active in the fields of different kinds of culture, besides they are engaged in the creation of modem novels, prose and so on in addition of the creation of the autobiographies. So they still have something in common which is that these literati autobiography works toward literature naturally. Take both novel and prose for example, combined with the western modem autobiography and traditional Chinese literature, this thesis discussed how the common point impact on modem literary autobiographies’creation. This thesis give an in-depth analysis of the modem literary biography’s writing mechanism from the discussion of fictitious feature, narrative, lyrical tradition and the application of Modem Vernacular Chinese respectively.Finally, started from the literature meaning of these works, this thesis discussed modem literati’s spiritual direction and value pursuit. This thesis take the difference of creation object between western autobiography and Chinese modem literati’ autobiography as a starting point (western autobiography preset god for its readers while Chinese modem autobiography face the mass and the secular directly), besides it take western classical autobiography as a scale, then discussed "sincerity" and "truth" in these autobiographies. Aimed at whether personal sincerity can and how to constitute the historical truth, this thesis spread out discussion, then expounded how the "literariness" in autobiography influenced both "sincerity" and "truth".Literature is the path to the human mind, so Rousseau’s autobiography "confessions" was compared with The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin in the last section of the thesis, then the thesis simply discusses the spiritual direction of modern literary autobiography, and indicate that Chinese traditional culture still rooted in modem literati’s heart and the Confucian Ethic Morals is the main spirit destination of modem writers in their autobiographies. It transformed modem literary autobiographies’ narrative object from the.god in western world to the readers beside and the posterity. So these autobiographies appeared a variety of concerns and considerations during the process of creation, finally formed the special features of this kind of autobiography.
