Chinese Element In The History Of Chinese Modern&Contemporary Art

Our modern art has always been criticized for copying from the western countries. Even now we still see some artists copy stuff from the west which happened years or decades ago. So making original art is our priority, and for that to happen, we have to mention Chinese elements. What kind of role has Chinese elements been playing the Chinese modern and contemporary art history? How do the Chinese artists use Chinese elements in their art? These questions shall be discussed in the following article.First, a brief statement of the Chinese modern and contemporary art history from1979to the end of20th century shall be given in the first chapter. Second, the development status of Chinese contemporary art will be discussed in the second chapter, which also is the historical background of Chinese elements starts being used. Third, we will talk about some artists and their works which showed many different ways of using Chinese elements, for example, Cai Guoqiang, Huang Yongping, Xu Bing and so on. Last, I will analyze and summarize all the information and thoughts, and will give an outlook to the future of Chinese contemporary art.The economy of China has been getting stronger and stronger and the role of our country in the world is getting more and more important, but at the same time, our culture and art are still far behind. I really hope that we can find a way to make our original art through discussing the relationship between Chinese elements and Chinese contemporary art, and to find our cultural attributes.
