It’s a very remarkable phenomenon that a great number of non-governmental sacrifice stories emerged in the period of Han Wei and six dynasties. Since Qin and Han dynasties, the social position of wizards had been on the decline. For this reason, the wizards and witches was zealous to spread the intimidatory legends and stories to attract followers and seek personal economic gain. On the other hand, the booming of mystery novels, such as Lieyi Zhuan and Soushen Ji, provided a platform for the writing of this kind of stories, which had been very well known in the folk world. Extensively existing of non-governmental sacrifices and the prosperity of mystery novels promoted the development of non-governmental sacrifice stories together. However, the rise of Taoism and Buddhism had a big impact on the non-governmental sacrifice stories. Especially, the rapid development of Buddhism, not only shocked and squeezed out the fundament of non-governmental sacrifice, but also affected the developing direct of mystery novels, which the non-governmental sacrifice stories relied on most. So, in the late period of six dynasties, the main tendency of non-governmental sacrifice stories is decline. After then, this kind of stories must transfer the method of developing to suit for the new fashion of novels in Tang Dynasty. The non-governmental sacrifice stories got rid of the dependency of mystery novels, it was converted to be a part of bigger, more complex stories.
