Kang Youwei said:"Chinese Calligraphy was prosperous in Han Dynasty". Late Han Dynasty was"the rich artistic spirit of an era" in Chinese history. It was also a crucial period to Chinese calligraphy, during which appeared unprecedented calligraphy pomp, professional calligraphic writers and unprecedented calligraphy theories and criticism of calligraphy papers so that fundamentally changed people’s thought towards calligraphy. The Chinese Calligraphy was no longer a trick,but became one of the most important standards for personality evaluating.Calligraphy is called a art of line,which included the most representative cursive script.This paper focuses on about one hundred years’history. With the help of unique Chinese notes,history,the calligraphy study wants to explore the real condition of the development of the Late Han Dynasty cursive script.mainly discussing four academic controversial issues:first, why did calligraphy develope into an independent art in Late Han Dynasty? second, why did it appear an unprecedented cursive pomp in Late Han Dynasty? third, the academia has a debate on"Zhang Zhi’s creating Jin Cursive Script". Could Zhang Zhi really create Jin Cursive Script? Why did Wei dan regard Zhang Zhi as the first cursive script writer at the age of many famous ones’existence? fourth, what the relation between running script,regular script and cursive script in Late Han Dynasty? What did the emergence of the unconstrained cursive script of tang dynasty Origen?This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter, starting from the cursive name and actuality,according to documents and unearthed physical material,respectively from the two aspects of name and reality to clear characteristics and concepts of cursive script in different period of the history. The second chapter,from the late han "cursive script heat",the process of the continuous development and mature to "Zhang Zhi’s creating jin cursive script " to explore the development of cursive script in the late han dynasty. Chapter three and chapter four aims at why calligraphy in late han dynasty can develop into an independent art.Through the analysis of the han cursive characteristics, such as the aesthetic pursuit of the cursive "potential" and "xiang",the argument of difficulty,easiness,rapidity and tardiness of cursive script,indulging in cursive script with deep emotions leads to the emergence of unconstrained cursive script.lt emphasizes the greatly powerful effect of late han cursive script’s promoting in the process of art of calligraphy,and combined with the late han Taoist thought,Chinese calligrapher,calligraphy theory, professional organizations and writing tools to demonstrate the origin of the calligraphy’s developing into an independent artistic.The fifth chapter tells the late han cursive script has the development and evolution to regular script, running script and unconstrained cursive script and has the influence of the formation of Er Wang’s calligraphic style.
