Politics In Movies

The movie is not only a form of art and entertainment, but also a mass media. The included rich screen and character information both reflect certain social ideology, but also had an important impact on the general public political culture. Although there is lot’s of research on the political culture in today’s academic research, they are largely confined to the theory of political culture and psychological analysis of important political figures. Specifical study of mass communication tool’s impacts on political culture is still rare. On the basis of previous studies,this paper choose Chinese mainstream films as research subjects, investigated their political socialization missions and these missions’ effect on political culture.In this dissertation, we mainly analysis and proves the views as follows:First, as the official ideology’s bearer, the Chinese mainstream movie was given three political socialization missions, those are enhancing national identity and political system identity; instilling a unified social awareness and establish a socialist moral by transformation of the concept of private ownership to promote political integration; implementing the will of the country by deep into countryside and enlightenment ideas. Second, in order to ensure that the mainstream movie accurate carrying official ideology and effective divert this ideology into a mass political culture through the process of socialization, political power mainly tightly controlled it from two aspects, ie political will-oriented film production mechanism with ideological and even political struggle-film criticism. Third, under the strong control of political power, the mainstream movie of the public political psychology many negative role. While promoting the replacement of the old and the new authority, the mainstream movie also shape a "rebel" paradox. Of the "class struggle" and "combat and prevent revisionism" long preached, the mainstream movie has also led to class fissures and "anti-intellectualism" flooding. In terms of the political roles, although the mainstream movie enhanced the status of women, it also inculcated the obedience-type culture.In the methodology, the thesis mainly draws on Western political cultural theory, and appropriate references movie science concepts and research results. In specific drafting and analysis, we mainly use the historical research, case studies and comparative analysis.
