The Filmic Features Of Yan Geling’s Novels

Chinese-american writer Yan Geling’s novels are frequently adapted as movies on the screen, from the initial Tian Yu won seven awards in Golden Horse Prize of Taiwan, Yan Geling’s literary works have aroused widly attention of directors. In2012, The Flowers Of War adapted by the director Zhang Yimou reached the peak. The reasons why Yan Geling’s novels can continuously be adapted into movies are as follow:Firstly, Yan Geling’s novels have special quality themselves, though it is not the necessary condition for her novels’frequent adaptation, and it is contained in the embodiment of the factors that novels and films have in common. The narrative style which is similar to the camera lens, the vivid language, and the mastery of humanity which were ofen showed in Yan Geling’s novels, are all factors of film and television’s unique embodiment in her works. However, how should the relationship between literature and film develop, is a serious topic in relation to insisting on the principle that literature must be independent, not only is independent from the film and television, but also independent from any other kinds of interference factors such as politics, economy, and that is the only way to ensure the purity of literature.Previous study of the writer Yan Geling is comprehensively, thoroughly, and respectively, including narrative, language, literary aspects such as feminism, immigration, reflecting the sometimes cold sometimes gentle characteristics of Yan Gelin’s novels. While this article embarks from the Yan Geling’s novel’s qualities of film and television, emphatically analyzing similarities between novel and film and television, instead, and explaining Yan Geling’s novels from different angles.This article consists of three parts:foreword, text and epilogue. Forword mainly introduces the present study situation of Yan Geling’s novels research and the innovation points in this paper.The text is divided into four chapters, the first chapter is about the Stereo language description, analysising the main action description and language description in the Yan Geling’s novels; The second chapter is the movie narrative characteristics. This chapter wrote from three parts:the narrative technique, narrative perspective, narrative theme analysis, mainly analysis of the novel’s film characteristics, namely similar factors in the novel and film and television; The third chapter is exposed to human nature.The close attention of the mining depth of human nature is the same feature of fiction and film, and this chapter analyse that human nature is visual qualitie of one aspect of the content; Chapter Four discusses around the relationship between literature and film and television, and it is extension of article topics, mainly discussed the future development of pure literature.
