| Documentary is an important carrier of the national external and cross-cultural communication. Under the trend of transformation in the media industry, it is an effective development strategy for China documentary to have sights on the international market and actively participate in international competition. In recent years, as China documentary gains a widespread reputation in the international arena, significant achievements and a growing number of awards in a major film festival, China documentary has gradually found its place in the international market.In this paper, according to the analysis on the subject choice, narrative style, and overseas push mode of the documentary Last Train Home, we explore the international operating practices behind its success, and expand the thinking on the internationalization of China documentary. The author believes that the internationalization of China documentary dependents on its cultural characteristics, as well as the degree of its market-oriented. Based on these, this paper mainly studies the following three parts:The first part is about the introduction of the documentary Last Train Home. We focus on the statistical analysis for its achievements, and we analysis the influence of the film in the documentary international market to explore its international promotion route.The second part is the analysis on the success factors of the documentary Last Train Home. We conclude that the reasons for the success of the film are to grasp the hot topics of international concern, to use the narrative of the story style, and to use the commercial push mode.The third part is about the analysis on the internationalization survival issue of the China documentary. The author believes that the necessary selections for the international road of China documentary must be looking for the international topics, expressing China’s stories, showing the culture with Chinese characteristics, and strengthening cooperation at home and abroad. |
