People have entered the era of pictures from Daguerre’s invention of photography to the popularity of digital cameras and network nowadays. In the170years of development about photography, it contains both ethnic and traditional content and form, the connotation and the spirit of the time. The camera have aimed at every corner of the society from the date of birth, and maximized the record of the human life of the original. And these photos have became the true portrayal of the disaster, war, disease, environmental pollution.However news photography is an important part. As a kind of visual information, the people of the same nationality can be shared, different ethnic and different nationalities can be shared. As one of the world’s languages, it could break through the barriers of languages. The text、drawing、audio、video and other means of communication cannot match. But what is able to attach the attention of the audience? What is more credible? The contemporary Chinese photography circles,"WPP"(World Press Photo) and "CHIPP"(China International Press Photo Contest) are usually an important criterion for many people measure of works’success.In view of world’s important position and the historical mission of "WPP" and "CHIPP", the paper attempts to interpret these two photojournalism competition.2005-2012winning entries of the two major news events as a sample, based on the reference information, combined with the practical experience of my owe photography, the framework is analyzed from the different angles. Contrast, analysis and comparison try to find their similarities, differences and gaps, as well as certain regularities.The papers take example by some theories of journalism, communication studies, psychology, sociology, combined with the essence of traditional Chinese culture. This will help to further understand the gap between Chinese and Western photojournalism. We learn more about the selection criteria of the internationalization and cultural ideas, recognize the trend of the development of World Press Photo. I hope by writing this paper I can strive in the form and content of news photography breakthrough, which can prove Chinese photographers with the reference to know better about the international press photography.
