Research On Ji Yi Ji

The Creation of Tang legend went into the decline stage in Late Tang and Five Dynasties. But a large number of novels set in this period,for example:Zhang Du’s Xuan Shi Zhi, Li Mei’s Zuan Yi Ji, Huang Fu Shi’s Yuan Hua Ji, Yuan Jiao’s Gan Ze Yao and so on. Xue Yong Ruo’s Ji Yi Ji was a representative work of this period, which played an important role in the history of novel. Ji Yi Ji recorded many fantastic stories, which were absurd. While, it was very different from the ghost stories which created in Six Dynasties. The writer injected reality factors into the absurd stories, these works reflected the thoughts and feelings of the people. Xuc Yong ruo writed these novels intentionally. This paper studies on Ji Yi Ji, trying to research comprehensively from the author’s life and times background, the ideological content of the work, the historical value and the artistic achievements.The thesis is divided into five parts:The introduction, summary briefly on works and existing research. Meanwhile, discusses the significance of this thesis and the target expected to reach.Chapter one, sketch simplely the basic situation of Ji Yi Ji, including the author’s life, thoughts and creation background of that times.Chapter two, analyse the ideological of Ji Yi Ji. The works can be divided into four aspects according to the ideological content. They are philosophy, religion, politics and ethics. Then, elaborate ideological content combined with the stories.Chapter three, analysis mainly the historical value on Ji Yi Ji. This chapter is divided into three parts, they are:records of the major historical events, records of the historical figures, records of social life in the Tang Dynasty.Chapter four, discuss the value of the Ji Yi Ji and achievements. The value includes the complement of history and social function; the achievements include the artistic of works and differences from the ghost novels in before Tang.In a word, Ji Yi Ji produced in social decay Late Tang and Five Dynasties. The writer searched the strange stories and reflected the reality of the society in these strange stories. This book occupied an important position with its rich ideological content and superb artistic techniques.
