Emotion regulation is a very common phenomenon in daily life,90%person regulatetheir emotions, however, not all the people can control their emotions perfectly.Expressive suppression, cognitive reappraisal, and attention mobility and so onare usual emotion regualation strategies. The short-term emotional control methodswhat this research explore carry out in the basic of expressive suppression.Expressive suppression strategy impacts several parts of emotion, includingexpression behavior, subjective experience, physiological reaction,cognition(e.g. memory, making decision) and social interation and so on. Purposeof this research is investigating the short-term emotional control methods. Themethods should make subjects who covering this training not significant differencewith control group when they suppressing their evocative emotion.Contents and methods:(1)Study one. Investigate the effects of expressivesuppression in facial behavior, subjective experience, and physiology systemduring visual stimuli, auditory stimuli and audiovisual stimuli through MP150System. There are48subjects in3*2mixed design.(2)Study two. Objective: exploreand find out the short-term emotional control methods to make subjects who coveringthis training not significant difference with control group when they suppressingtheir evocative emotion. Method: Interview, experiments through biofeedbackequipment.(3)Study three.40subjects in between-group design experiment throughbiofeedback equipment to verify effectiveness of the short-term emotional controlmethod.Results:(1) Comparing with the control group, expressive suppression reducesthe emotion expression but not decrease either positive or negative emotionsubjective experience. The activation of sympathetic system of suppression groupis higher than the control group s. In some extent expressive suppression hascognitive cost.(2)It has conform the short-term emotional control methodsincluding respiratory relaxation training, muscular relaxation training, and cognitive training.(3)Comparing with the control group, the trainees suppressemotion reducing the facial expression but not decrease subjective experience. However, the activation of sympathetic system is not significant difference withthat of the control group. What is more, there are two indicators(heart rate andSCL) of the training group lower than those of the control group. It means theresearch achieves the expected results to a certain extent. At present, researches about emotion regulation almost focusing on moodregulation but fewer short-term emotional regulation. Nevertheless, controllingemotion perfectly but not impacting physiological status is very important. Inaddition, for some special occupations such as police, negotiator et al,controlling himself or herself emotion within a short time is very important. Therefore, research of short-term emotional control is pretty meaningful.
