In the study of emotion regulation, the Gross' s process model of emotion regulation has been widely recognized.Cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression are the most frequently to be used, and are the most valuable to research in Gross' s process model. Many scholars abroad have studied the effects of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression on emotional experience and facial expression, while domestic scholars focus little on the research of facial expression. In addition, according to the long-term study, scholars abroad believe that cognitive reappraisal is good emotional regulation strategy and expressive suppression is bad one,and the fundamental reason is that cognitive reappraisal can effectively reduce emotion experience and physiological response, but expressive suppression lead to increase physiological response and can't reduce the emotion experience. In this study, because of different culture, expressive suppression, which can reduce facial expression, may be good regulation strategy in the Chinese collective culture. Therefore, according to the traditional interpersonal principle, the research chooses seven interpersonal relationships close to college students,to learn which strategy they will choose in seven interpersonal situation. In addition, considering neuroticism and extroversion are both high emotional style personality, and they may also influence the choice of emotion regulation strategies. Therefore, this study selects high and low neuroticism, extroversion, investigate the choice of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression in seven interpersonal situations. In this study,we choose sadness as research target emotion, and we have three sub-studies.The first study, using experiment, explores cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression effect on sad emotion experience and facial expression;and the second and third studies, using big five personality inventory and self-made situation questionnaire, explores the role of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression in different level interpersonal situation, and neuroticism, extroversion subjects in different level interpersonal situation. From this study,it was mainly found that:1.Cognitive reappraisal is more effective on reducing emotional experience;the expressive suppression is more effective on reducing facial expression.2.In the close relationship situation, more subjects and more willingness choose the cognitive reappraisal strategy. In the hierarchical relationships, more subjects and more willingness choose expressive suppression strategy.Compared to long-term alienation relationship,in short-term alienation relationship, more subjects and more willingness choose cognitive reappraisal strategy.3.High neuroticism subjects in most interpersonal situation, the willingness to choose cognitive reappraisal is lower than low neuroticism subjects;in all interpersonal situations, the willingness to choose expressive suppression is higher than low neuroticism.High extroversion subjects in most interpersonal situation, the willingness to choose cognitive reappraisal is higher than low neuroticism subjects;the willingness to choose expressive suppression has no significant difference between high and low extroversion in seven interpersonal situation.4.high and low neuroticism,in seven interpersonal situations, the tendency of the choice of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression is consistent;high and low extroversion,in seven interpersonal situation, the tendency of the choice of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression also is consistent.
