An Attempt On Oil Painting With Folk Art Style

The content and form of oil painting which are based on folk art havealready been made several years ago. Some foreign artists, like Picasso and Matisse,their inspiration and content of painting were affected by African indigenous art andEuropean folk paper-cut. Chinese oil painting which uses folk art as a theme is alsonot uncommon. The view about the nationalization of Chinese Oil Painting was putforward as early as1950s and1960s. A lot of scholars and artists in China havealready did some research and discussion about this object, and they have achievedresults about it. There are some different opinions of art between the West and theEast. The theories of art in Western countries are base on science, they describethings reality and objectively, The opinions of Western people are always focus onthe opposition of human and nature and the opposition of human and society, sotheir theories are also focus on the spirit of science, conception and logic inference.But traditional arts of China are focus on harmony, they describes the views of theblend of mind and matter. They are based on moral philosophy and focused onsubjective performance. The most important thing for artists on art expression isrealizing through the observation, emphasizing on subjective consciousness andpursuing the artistic conception. Because of the differences between the westerncountries and the eastern countries, both the conception and the theme have a widespace of development. The concept of expression should concentrate in the spiritpursuit of Chinese traditional culture, it should assimilate the style of folk arts likePaper-cut, Heap flowers, shadow play and so on. Besides, the concept should containthe characteristic, core value, material, mechanism, medium and the feature ofpainting language perfectly. The nationalization of oil painting is actually within ourChinese national characteristic, emotion, ideological, customs and habits. Throughthis painting creation, I have explored new methods in the expression and mechanism of folk arts, I also got many great ideas. Besides, I have got the aestheticsense of return to innocence and much more experience and pursuit.
