The titanium alloy with so many fine characteristics such as the lightlyweight, the big intensity, the strong thermal stability, and anti-corrosive has theimportant application in the aerospace, the petroleum, the chemical industry, themicroorganism project and so on many domains. However it is belonged to thetypical hard-cutting material because of its lowly heat conductibility and thehighly cutting temperature. That will be lead to both the seriously cutting toolwear and the lowly processing efficiency while being turned through thetraditional cutting methods. And also the ordinary cutting solution being usedmassively not only pose the enormous threat to the environmental safety andoperator’s health, but also increase the following processing cost, which does nottally advocate with the green processing now.Based on one kind of green manufacturing technology━━the liquidnitrogen cryogenic cutting, The cutting parameters was formulated and toolselected in this paper based on cutting feature of the titanium alloy; then theturning was done using single factor and orthogonal method in the cryogenicwhile being comparison with the dry cutting and conventional coolingmachining in order to study its effect on titanium (TC4) machinability fromsome machining evaluation parameters such as cutting forces、 surfaceroughness、tool wears and chip breakability; finally the empirical formula ofturning force was established by multiple linear regression and the mostappropriate cutting parameters was obtained through range analysis in thecryogenic machining.The results indicated that the main cutting force and thrust force increasedto a certain degree in the cryogenic cutting, but it effectively reduced the toolwear and improved the chip-breakability, and also the feed force, the surfaceroughness reduced and the surface quality was improved when the cutting speedis higher.
