Five-axis NC machining technology is the main manufacturing method ofcomplex shape parts, and it is one of the advanced manufacturing technologywhich all countries strive to develop. Following the domestic and overseasresearch hot spots and the latest research results about it, and the key technologyof five-axis NC machining for complex curved surface is studied in this thesis.Based on the whole impeller in this paper, the research on the keytechnology of complex curved surface geometric modeling, five-axis NCmachining process strategies, five-axis NC machining simulation andpost-processing are done. And the following contents are finished in this thesis.(1) The NURBS geometric modeling theory and method of complexcurved surface is stated, and the curved surface modeling way of the integralimpeller is thoroughly analyzed based on it. At the same time, the geometricmodeling of the integral impeller is built in the Pro/E.(2) According to the total and average curvature of curved surfaces, thedivision of complex curved surfaces is done. Five-axis NC machining processstrategies are thoroughly researched, and the main machining processprocedures of the integral impeller are thoroughly analyzed. In addition, themachining path planning of the integral impeller is achieved in the PowerMill.Besides, the way of five-axis machining gauging-free tool path generation oftoroidal tool is researched.(3) The purpose and significance of NC machining simulation are stated,and the basic procedures of NC machining simulation in the PowerMill andVERICUT are analyzed, and the whole five-axis NC machining simulationprocesses of the integral impeller in the PowerMill and VERICUT are finished.(4) The spatial kinematics for a kind of typical five-axis NC machine isresearched, and the general way to do spatial kinematics analysis for all kinds offive-axis NC machines is provided based on it. Besides, the processes ofpost-processing and reverse post-processing are stated, and the post-processingand reverse post-processing algorithms of the DMU50V machine are studied.
