With the adjustment of energy strategy and the development of the national economy, as a clean and efficient energy, natural gas is increasing rapidly in each big city. Enjoying the advantages of the natural gas, people also pay more attention to its safety problem. As an important part of city gas storage and distribution, natural gas spherical tank area, storage of large natural gas, once have an accident, will cause disastrous consequences. So it is necessary to evaluate the risk of natural gas spherical tank area.First of all, form the risk of natural gas itself, the harmful factors of the natural gas spherical tank and its subsidiary facilities, personnel and safety management risk factors and environmental risk factors, we analyze and have the possible risk factors form natural gas spherical tank area. By using fault tree analysis method, we establish the natural gas spherical tank failure fault tree and have the qualitative analysis, obtaining the minimal cut sets and structural importance of each failure factors. According to the accident characteristics of natural gas spherical tank area, a model is established to analyze the Domino effect of natural gas spherical tank area accident. Form the fire thermal radiation, explosion shock wave overpressure and explosion fractions, the damage of object equipment is analyzed in Domino effect and a simple and effective model of calculating the probability of accident and the Domino effect scenarios are given based on empirical data. Then the accident consequence is evaluated comprehensively and the casualties and property loss caused by natural gas spherical tank area accidents are estimated. The assessment index system of natural gas spherical tank area failure probability and accident consequence is established. The weights of evaluation factors is determined by using AHP, then the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method with the combination of examples is used to evaluate the risk of natural gas spherical tank area and the level of the risk is obtained. Finally, the corresponding risk control measures are put forward in order to provide scientific reference for safety management and decision-making.
