As the purpose, an excellent kind of aqueous gel ink was studied. The effects oflower carbon alcohol, dispersing agent and thickening agent on the properties ofaqueous gel ink were studied. At the same time, the technical condition of aqueous gelink was studied. Through the experimental data analysis,it is shown that the qualityof aqueous gel ink was met the demand of the national industrial standard. In the research process, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol andglycerol were studied in the range of the higher alcohols4%~21%. The effect of fourkinds low carbonic alcohols were not obvious on the viscosity, thixotropic value andstability, except intermittent time.Glycerol was better than the others in thisexperiments. When the mass fraction of glycerol was more than12%,intermittentwriting time was longer than6days, This is the highest record in the world. The effects of dispersing agent TW80,SN-6100,OP-10and K30on the aqueousgel ink were studied. It was found that the thixotropic value was not good, if addingone kind of dispersing agent. When the rate of (SN-6100) and carbon black powderwas20%, and the rate of (K30) and carbon black powder was26%, performance ofthe aqueous gel ink was stable. The effects of polyacrylamide, xanthan gum, guar gum,CMC as tackifier on theaqueous gel ink were studied. The result shown that as a tackifier, xanthan gum, sodium carboxymethylcellulose was more stable than polyacrylamide or guar.Usually, when the content of sodium carboxymethylcellulose was0.5%and xanthan gum was0.3%the aqueous gel ink is preferable. The manufacturing process of aqueous gel ink is that when the mix time inhigh-shearing-type mixer was9min,and the time in the lapping machine was120min.the aqueous gel ink is preferable.
