In the current situation of basic manufacturing industry, it has become the emphasis of many nations to research on ATC used in the Machining Center. As an important component of CNC machine tool, the tool magazine and manipulator has great significance to improve the reliability of CNC machine tool.Arming at the reliability problem of the tool magazine and manipulator, the reliability tests and analysis methods for chain magazine and manipulator were studied with the background of the national science and technology project "High-grade CNC machine tool and basic manufacturing equipment", which can provide theoretical basis and data foundation for the design technique of reliability growth in the ATC.Based on the reliability test bench for the chain magazine and manipulator, the early failure test method was studied to solve the weak reliability link of this functional unit, and the reliability test was done. The detailed analysis of the chain magazine and manipulator with FMEA was presented and the calculation sorting method based on expert scoring system for risk priority number was studied to find the weak reliability link of this unit.The reliability test method based on accelerated life and small sample test was proposed to solve the technical difficulties of tracking test for tool magazine and manipulator. And some reliability parameters were analyzed and researched. The MTBF(main time between failures) weibull model of the chain magazine and manipulator was built by the probability weighted moment method.On this basis, the comprehensive reliability assessment method of chain magazine and manipulator was proposed based on information entropy theory. The equivalent of the test information between two adjacent systems were conducted by making full use of the reliability tests information of each component parts of the total system. The reliability approximate limit of chain magazine and manipulator was calculated at last.
