With the trend of miniaturization, light weight and high quality in microstripantennae, there is urgent need to develop dual complex media that have a value ofapproximately15in the real part of relative dielectric constant multiplied by that ofpermeability, μ′·ε′≈815, at the center frequency of800MHz.Based upon NiZn spinel ferrites, this paper presents systematic investigations abouthow Co2+and Zn2+substitutions affect the electromagnetic properties of cutofffrequency, permeability, saturation magnetic induction, loss, etc. By mixing Pps orMgO with NiZn, one obtained such NiZn composite ferrites of μ′·ε′≈815. Thedielectric constant and permeability were measured at frequencies from1to1800MHz.The effects of material preparation parameters on the dielectric constant, permeability, and cutoff frequency were also studied. Based upon Ansoft simulations of microstripantennae, one summarized the rules of how antenna parameters depend upon theproperties of dual complex ferrite media.
