In this paper, NiZn ferrites have been prepared using solid-state mixing method. Toroidal samples were obtained after ball-milling, calcining, granulateing, forming and sintering of NiO, ZnO, CuO and Fe2O3 raw powders. The effects of additives, calcining temperature etc on the microstructure and magnetic properties of NiZn ferrites were investigated, using XRD, SEM and optical microscopy. The results showed that the increase of CuO additive changed the formation mechanism of the NiZn ferrite and reduced the formation temperature of the spinel. Appropriate amount of CuO promoted the grain growth of the ferrite increased firstly and then decreased. The compare spoilage coefficient firstly reduced and then increased. The courier temperature and saturated magnetometive density decreased. When 10 mol% CuO is added , the finest microstructure of the ferrite and the most homogeneous particles are obtained;and hence the ferrite achieved the best initial permeability, the lowest compare spoilage coefficient and compare temperature coefficient.
