Lanzhou-Xinjiang Double Track Railway Special Line for Passenger Traffic in construction is a district in railway network planning of China, highlighted on the principles of "A Four-axis vertical and four horizontal" railway network. The line totally attains to more than1700kilometers long, most of which crossed over Gobi desert, in view of geological characteristics and environment as well as climatic conditions that are largely different from the districts along the line, the line should be mainly constructed on railway subgrade.Lanzhou-Xinjiang No.2Double-Track Railway line will be the world’s first high speed railway to be constructed on Gobi desert, which the key factors for construction is relatively weak in research basis. Focused on the research of subgrade treatment, filler control as well as inspections, it will actively promote the successfully construction of this line, simultaneously combined significant project with a systematically research of engineering technology and countermeasures, this can have an important role in optimizing the technical system in this realm.This research is, on the basis of the construction of Lanzhou-Xinjiang Double Track Railway, intended for subgrade treatment measures, reinforcing effects as well as design parameters, test district selected as representative. Furthermore, subgrade treatment measures and settlement observation schemes will then be provided for construction of high speed railway on Gobi desert. Meanwhile, put indoor and site test into basic routing, research is focused on physical and mechanical properties for the filler on Gobi desert. Relied on filling quality inspection, it aims at ramming parameters and technical means for inspection.According to different geological conditions on the Gobi desert, combined with the requirements for high speed railway subgrade to settlement, it will be tested that foundation treatment model is varied with foundation. It will be provided with a preliminary treatment principle of high speed railway on Gobi desert by analyzing adaptability for different foundation treatment model and design parameters, combined the reinforcing technique and reinforcing effects with settlement observation. The filler in the extracting soil at test district should be inspected for its physical properties so as to determine the regularities of distribution and characteristics of particles and compaction of the filler on the Gobi soil along Xinjiang railway line. It will be made a conclusion on the physical and mechanical properties for the filler.Compaction quality inspection will be performed through setting up Subgrade efficient (K30), Static modulus of deformation (EV2), Dynamic modulus of deformation (EVd) and porosity (n), by analyzing site test results obtained the regularities of the indexes distribution of compaction relating to the filler on Gobi soil, and by analyzing the relativity between different indexes provides quality control indexes in compaction to Gobi soil.In consideration of the characteristics of Gobi desert, a settlement observation scheme relating to the railway subgrade at Gobi desert can be formulated. By analyzing the settlement features on the subgrade at different section and utilizing different models of Double-curve line, Asaoka, Pearl, Gompertz, GM (1,1) for settlement forcast, the accuracy will be determined when used the different methods of evaluation and a settlement evaluation model on subgrade settlement applicable for Gobi region will be provided.
