Pneumatic transmission technology is widely used in the automatic industrialmanufacturing line with the characteristic of safe, reliable, non-polluting and low cost.As the most basic components of the pneumatic system, the cylinder also broadapplication, so the research of cylinder fatigue damage and fatigue life will make asignificant sense. This article choose the SMC MBF/L32-250series standard cylinderas research subjects, beginning with the research of cylinder fatigue damage testsystem design and the cylinder fatigue failure theoretical analysis. The cylinder fatiguefailure modes, causes and characteristics are analyzed. According to that, the paperdeals with the study of cylinder fatigue failure of the test system design.In this paper, at the first, the fatigue failure theory is discussed form two aspects offatigue failure characteristics and the fatigue failure mechanism, including some basicconcepts, the level of development and the circumstances in related fields at home andabroad. Then take the test cylinder as example to learn the cylinder structure,classification and characteristics, and through the study of the theory of fatigue failurecombined with the study of test cylinder, the paper analyzes cylinder fatigue failurecharacteristics and causes, and determines the cylinder fatigue failure mode. From this,it lay the theory for making the test programs.According to the theoretical analysis of cylinder fatigue failure and the specifictest requirements, this article confirms fatigue failure test method, because of which wecarried out the experimental design. The paper analysed the characteristics likefrequency, load, speed and other key experimental factors before determining thefatigue damage test program and used some related simulation software to simulationsin order to show characteristics of the experimental factors. Then designed thepneumatic test system with the ISO19973-3as guides, including installation, shockabsorption, fixed angle by which to consider the cylinder test platform assembleddesigned in order to keep the cylinder test runs well and reliable, designed airpneumatic system which can provide clean compressed air for the test, and designedelectrical control system which can provide convenient and reliable control for cylinder operation and test, which are aimed to provide safety environment, accurateoperating and good test conditions for cylinder fatigue failure test.After finish the test system designing, this article used the appropriateinstrumentation and accurate collection methods to collect the cylinder test data, whichcan grasp the cylinder life process data changes. As such, it can provide date supportfor the proceeding work. Finally, classification of this paper descriptions theexperimental data, and put forward a viable data processing method which can besimple and effective in analysising the data of cylinder fatigue failure test.
