Chimney power generation is a new type of solar power generationtechnology, which is based on the chimney effect and the greenhouse effect. Ithas many advantages, such as low cost, simple equipment and easy maintenance,so it has a broad application and is prospective. From the angle of improvingpower generation efficiency of the chimney power generation system, the thesisconducted an elementary investigation through numerical simulation andexperiment.The chimney power generation system was investigated by usingcomputational fluid dynamics software FLUENT, and the internal airflowtemperature, pressure and velocity fields within the power generation systemwere obtained. The feasibility of the numerical simulation implemented in thisthesis is verified by the experiment conducted by others. Based the simulationresult, the optimization of the configuration parameter of the power generationsystem was studied, and the impact of its geometry and the shape on itsefficiency was acquired.A small solar chimney power generation systems of simple experimentalequipment was built, and the distributions of various physical quantities aregotten. Comparing with the experimental results, the variabilities of the variousphysical quantities obtained in simulation were confirmed, and it further showsthat the solar chimney power generation equipment is practicable. Thus thisstudy provides theory basis for constructing the solar chimney power generationsystem.
