| With the economic and social progress and development in China, migrant workers have become an emerging labor group formed in the wake of urbanization. And as it is being expanded, there has emerged a phenomenon which can not be ignored that when falling ill migrant workers seldom seek a medical treatment at the regular hospital but take the private clinic as the top choice. What has brought about this? The new Rural Cooperative Medical Care System has covered up to100million migrant workers in China. In this situation, why the demand for migrant workers’seeking medical treatments still can’t be satisfied? Therefore, based on the analysis of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior, the paper is designed to discuss in depth the influence the new Medical Insurance System for rural migrants in China has exerted on migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior.Through the literature and normative analysis of the medical demand for migrant workers, key concerns and factors influencing migrant workers’health-seeking behavior in a descriptive way in terms of the related data, combining the new Rural Cooperative Medical Care System, the paper draws a conclusion by discussing correct guidance for and an appropriate standard measuring migrant workers’health-seeking behavior.The related data and conclusions drawn from the comprehensive study within the field, used in the paper, have been obtained from studies on migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior at different regions in China. The creative point of the study is to select the special group, migrant workers, to investigate and study their choice of health-seeking behavior and their demand for medical services, guiding migrant workers to seek medical treatments at the hospital under the guidance of the existing policies and gradually improving the medical assistance system which conforms to the working and living features of migrant workers by adopting some assisted activities such as right medical assistance and community services.Chapter1is an introduction to the background and significance of the topic, and a review of previous and present studies on the topic at home and abroad.Chapter2gives a definition of core concepts put forward in the paper. Mainly using welfare economics, migration flow theories and dual economy theories as theoretical foundations, the paper is intended to investigate and study the choice of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior and their demand for medical services through the literature and normative analysis and the related researches, which is the creative point of the study.Chapter3is attempted to acquire the present situation of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior by analyzing their disease management, substitution therapy, returning their hometown for medical treatments and the choice of being hospitalized. And some problems drawn from the present situation related to migrant workers’ health-seeking can be reflected at the following four aspects, namely long time needed to seek medical treatments, the unreasonable timing and choice of medical institutions for their medical treatments, the disharmonious relationship between migrant workers and doctors, and the unreasonable payment at actual cost for migrant workers’ medical treatment security.Chapter4makes an analysis of influencing factors and motivation of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior. In this chapter, the author analyzes three factors that influence migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior, including individual factors, environmental factors and institutional factors. The analysis of the motivation for the choice of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior is an internal driver of activities related to migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior. Therefore, to have a right analysis and better understanding of the motivation of migrant workers’health-seeking behavior, it is suggested that the paper should analyze the motivation for the choice of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior from the perspective of psychology.Chapter5is a reflection of correct guidance on migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior. Based on the above analysis and the understanding of present situation, key concerns and influencing factors of migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior and their related improvements, the author develops a standard to measure migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior and gives the related advice to correctly guide and correspondingly improve migrant workers’ health-seeking behavior.Chapter6is Conclusions and Prospects. From an empirical perspective and summary analysis of existing survey data to understand the present situation and problems of migrant workers seeking behavior, and draws some conclusions of practical significance. Looking to the future, and guide the reasonable measures for medical treatment of migrant workers migrant workers can be more easily accepted, the purpose of optimizing the allocation of health resources more quickly reach. |
