| 1Studies on Chemical Constituents from Cell Cultures of Morus alba L.Morus alba L.contained flavonoids, Diels-Alder type adducts, stilbenes, benzofuran derivatives and so on, which showed anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, antitumor, antimicrobial, antifungal activities based on modern pharmacology research. For developing more resources and finding more natural products with good bioactivities, the chemical constituents in cell suspensions of M. alba were systematically investigated. The results are shown as follows. The various chromatographic techniques including silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20column chromatography and normal (reversed) phase semi-preparative HPLC were employed to fractionate and purify the compounds from the EtOAc extract of medium and MeOH extract of cell cultures of M. alba. As a results, nineteen compounds were obtained. Based on physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data (1D NMR,2D NMR, MS, UV, IR), their structures were identified as genistein (1), norartocarpetin (2), albanin A (3), isobavachalcone (4), moracin M (5), moracin P (6),[2",3":6,7]-(6,7-dihydro-6-hydroxy-6-methyloxepine)2-(3,5-dihydroxyphenyl)benzofuran (7*), resveratrol (8), oxyresveratrol (9), oxyresveratrol2’-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (10), oxyresveratrol4’-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (11), chalcomoracin (12), mulberrofuran F (13), kuwanon J (14). guangsangon E (15), guangsangon J (16), mongolicin F (17),β-daucosterol (18),β-sitosterol (19). Compounds2,3,5,6,8,10,11,13,15,16,18were isolated from the cell cultures of M. alba for the first time.Compounds12,13,14and17displayed anti-inflammation with nitric oxide (NO) production inhibitory rates99.67%,98.55%,86.69%,98.73%at a concentration of10-5M.2Biotransformation of aromatic phenolic compounds by plant cell suspension culturesCompared with the chemical synthesis, biotransformation is of an environmentally friendly way to the structural modification of natural products. In this study, fifty two aromatic phenols were used to be transformed by Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch. cell suspension cultures. The resulted were presented as follows.Among the fifty two aromatic phenolic compounds, the icariin could be transformed by M. alba and G. uralensis cell suspension cultures and the aloe-emodin could be transformed by G. uralensis cell suspension cultures. One known compound was obtained from the preparative transformation of icariin by M. alba cell suspension cultures. The structure was identified as baohuoside-I (20).Two new compounds,21*and22*, were obtained from the icariin biotransformation by G. uralensis cell suspension cultures. They were stereisomers. The structure was identified as 3-(α-L-Rhamnopyranosyloxy)-4’-methoxy-5.3"-dillydroxy-3",3"-dimethyl-[2,1-b]-furano-flav one.One known compound was obtained from the biotransformation of aloe-emodin with G. uralensis cell suspension cultures. The structure was identified as aloe-emodin-3-(oxynlethyl)-O-β-D-glucoside(23). |
