Unfortunately, Chapter72Cifa Lunpian which should be a chapter about needling method judging from the title has been lost during the process of spread. The content added by later generations was not recognized for its strong color of Taoism, but from another perspective, the author’s try was innovation and development to the theory of Plain Questions. Therefore, researching the author of the two chapters and his academic thought could provide some ideas. The conclusion about the time when the two chapters were finished and the academic background of the author was given by some researchers. However, the problem if there was a difference between the two chapters in writing style was ignored. Three details in the original showed a difference between the two chapters, the incantation in the note, the title of the referenced book and the formula and medicinal mentioned.Objectives:The objectives of this study were to analyze that if there was a difference between Chapter72Cifa Lunpian and Chapter73Benbing Lunpian in writing style, to Infer that if the author the two chapters was the same one, to provide reference for researching the author of the two Chapters.Methods:The objects of this study were the words of Chapter72Cifa Lunpian and Chapter73Benbing Lunpian. The ancient Chinese function words which appeared both in the two Chapters and were used only as function words were selected to be the statistical indicators by referring to authoritative books of function words. The data were calculated with R.Results:The p-values of four of the twelve Selected function words(“乃”,“其”,“焉”and“也”)were smaller than0.05. The p-values of the other eight function words(“此”,“而”,“乎”,“虽”,“矣”,“哉”,“者”and“只”)were greater than0.05.Conclusions:There was a significant difference between Chapter72Cifa Lunpian and Chapter73Benbing Lunpian in the use of the four function words“乃”,“其”,“焉”and“也”.From the perspective of the use of the four function words, there was a difference between the two Chapters in writing style, the author might be different.
