| Objective:Through the analysis of a large sample randomized controlled trial data, to analyze the clinical effects of balance acupuncture treatment on prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc, and give a comprehensive evaluation of balance acupuncture treatment in improving pain symptom of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods:Collected the clinical data, put the relevant information into Access database, and using overall efficiency, follow-up maintenance rate, different duration of efficiency, instant effect, average onset time, pain improvement rate, pain score and SF-MPQ table as the research target, statistical analysis was given using SPSS17.0, comparing the clinical effects before and after treatment, as well as the clinical effects between balance acupuncture and traditional acupuncture.Result:1. Comparison of curative effect within groups:the doctor pain score, PRI-A,PRI-S, PRI-T, visual analogue scale(VAS) and present pain intensity(PPI) after each treatment compared with treatment before all have significant differences(P<0.05), reflecting that both therapies could improve the pain symptom of prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc.2. The overall efficiency:In the balance acupuncture group, there were45cases clinically cured,72markedly effective cases,19effective cases and1ineffective case in the balance acupuncture group, the cure rate was32.8%and the total effective rate was99%. And in the tradition acupuncture group, there were29cases clinically cured,63markedly effective cases,43effective cases and4ineffective cases in the traditional acupuncture group, the cure rate was20.9%and the total effective rate was97%. And there were significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The overall effect of balance acupuncture is better than traditional acupuncture.3. Follow-up maintenance rate:The maintenance rate of balance acupuncture group was95.6%, and traditional acupuncture group was96.4%, there was no difference between the two groups (P>0.05), showing that both therapies could maintain curative effect.4. Comparison of effects among different courses of disease:Compared with the effects between the two groups after the treatment, there was no difference with course of1month (P>0.05), the course of2-6months,6months-2years and2years were significantly different (P<0.05), showing that balance acupuncture has better effect for longer course.5. The onset time:There were100cases having effects after the first treatment in balance acupuncture group, accounting for73.0%, and its average onset time was2.13±0.243times; There were76cases having effects after the first treatment in traditional acupuncture group, accounting for54.7%, and its average onset time was2.73±0.282times. Both of the instant effect and the average onset time of effect had significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05), reflecting that the balance acupuncture has better instant effect and shorter course of treatment.6. The pain score of evaluation by doctor:There were significant differences(P<0.05) between the two groups from the20th treatment to the2nd follow-up, reflecting that balance acupuncture has advantages in the later stage of treatment and the follow-up period.7. Pain improvement rate:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups from the first treatment to the4th treatment, with no significant differences (P>0.05) from the6th treatment to the20th treatment, and had significant differences (P<0.05) on the20th treatment and the2nd follow-up, suggesting that balance acupuncture has advantage both in instant effect and long-term effect for improving pain symptom.8. PRI-A:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups from the20th treatment to the3rd follow-up, reflecting that balance acupuncture has advantage in the later stage of treatment and the follow-up period for PRI-A.9. PRI-S:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups on the12th and20th treatment, showing that the balance acupuncture has advantage in the later stage of treatment for PRI-S.10. PRI-T:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups from the18th treatment to the3rd follow-up, reflecting that balance acupuncture has advantage in the later stage of treatment and the follow-up period for PRI-T.11. VAS:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups at the1st treatment, the14th treatment, the18th treatment, the20th treatment, and the2nd follow-up. This Reflects that the balance acupuncture has better instant effect and also has advantage in the later stage of treatment and the follow-up period for VAS.12. PPI:There were significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups at the18th treatment, the20th treatment and the2nd follow-up. This suggests that balance acupuncture has advantage in the later stage of treatment for PPI.Conclusion:1. The clinical effect of balance acupuncture on prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc is definite, and has many advantages when compared with traditional acupuncture. The effect is more outstanding when the duration exceeds more than2months.2. Balance acupuncture shows significant improvement in pain in prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. The instant effect is notable, and the average onset time is better than traditional acupuncture.3. The analgesic effect of balance acupuncture can be maintained well, and also has an advantage in long-term treatment.4. The analgesic effect of balance acupuncture is comprehensive; it can not only improve the degree of pain, but also improve the feeling and emotion of pain. |
