The central soviet red ballad came to its being and developed during the second revolutionary civil war. It has been widespread around several areas across Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong provinces. Responding to the urgent need of promoting the revolutionary war and encouraging the morale in the battlefield front, songs relating red revolution stories published one after another. Set in the local Hakka culture, demonstrative of the geographical features and revolutionary heroism, the central soviet red ballads has long been served as a major tool for education in different eras. This thesis includes four parts, the first part dealing with the inception and development of the central soviet red ballad. An abundance Hakka literature reveals that Hakka people have always been upbeat and striving for better through hard working. Especially, under the guiding priciple of "raising political awareness and literacy among the people" by "combining education and manual labor" in order to "serve the revolution and class struggle", the central soviet red ballad has played an important role in the red revolutionary campaign. The second part uses examples to illustrate the central soviet red songs’ ethical significance and funtions. The third part deals with the educational value of central soviet red ballads non-material cultural heritage in schools and society. Nowadays, all Chinese people are endeavoring in building a harmonious society, to heed more care on folk music will help to provide wider spaces for folk music as a kind of cultural heritage. The fourth part discusses the cultural heritage in perspective of the central soviet red songs’role in an advanced culture, in the construction of harmoniously socialistic society, in propelling our society towards an all-around development while always maintaining the progressiveness of the cultural aspects. The proposal of including red ballads into the school discipline is also initiated along with its problems and the concerning solutions. The concluding part deals with the educational significance of central red songs. The thesis approaches the red central soviet ballads in perspective of its funtion of transmitting cuture, educating younger generations and the society at large. In particular, red ballads in university campus will help to make students more at ease with competetive life and more spirited in study and socializing.
