Study On Ji Xian lin′s Prefaces

Preface, this literary style, has already existed in the pre-Qin era, and independent style inthe Northern and Southern Dynasties.In the first chapter, we sort the development of preface′s context.In the second chapter,in the perspective of discourses, We select Ji Xian lin′s prefaces asthe corpus and take advantage of the theory of systemic functional linguistics, and under thepremise of prefaces divided into self-made and other-made prefaces so as to make a macrodescription of discourse’s potential macro-function structure: Self-made prefaces:{[writingreason]^(topic overview)(caused by interpretation)^(lines with history)^[thank Outlook andEvaluation]}; other-made prefaces:{reason to explain]^(historical background)^[relationshipstatements (Theme development)(Evaluation)}.Rhetorical Structure Theory is used to analysisthe Ji Xianlin’s preface discourses in semantic relations and hierarchy and basing it, we divideprefaces into five different subclasses: typical preface discourses, emphasizing the historicalpreface discourses,emphasizing the critical preface discourses, emphasizing the literary prefacediscourses, and the emphasis on biographical preface discourses.In the third chapter,we manually statistic and analysis the different thematic forms,pronouns (except the first person singular pronoun), prepositions, time words, othercharacters/collective/organizations,other noun phrases, and other words distribution in thedifferent types of Ji Xianlin′s preface discourses; in the thematic progression forms, make ageneral description of the different types of discourses, and describe in some special wayforward.In the fourth Chapter, we focus on the four special quotations forms: both sides discoursesquotations, unilateral discourse quotations, psychological discourse quotations and direct andindirect mixed quotations; and summary statistics is obtained about the distribution of differentquotations through discourse and also find that quotation has the function of the dynamicequilibrium by internal differences; as intertextuality tag, intertextuality in Linguistics area’soperation is briefly described.In the fifth chapter, we describe the shortcomings of the research and the preface as thistextual form requires further study.
