As a20th century writer, Lawrence has real feelings, deep thoughts and compassionate feelings than many contemporary writers. In his short life, he always attention and think about the changes around him, the changes of his country, even the changes of whole world in the process of capitalist industrial civilization. Capitalist industrial civilization destructs the nature, suppresses and distorts the human nature, and damages the gender relations, and he tried to adjust old gender relations or establish new gender relations, even through the death of the human or the destruction of the world to realize his Rana Nimes dream, all of these is the theme of Lawrence’s novel from the beginning to the end. And Lawrence used an abstract form to express his thoughts and feelings, that’s using symbolic images to express themes. All natural images with metaphor, just as a magic mirror not only reveals its original beauty and its ugly after suffered damage, but also reflects the complex thoughts, the changing emotions, and unconscious instinct impulse of the figures, thus achieves a perfect combination between the image and the significance.This article focused on natural images by studying10novels of Lawrence. The full text can be divided into three parts. The first part provides an overview of the natural images in Lawrence’s novels, which contains the interpretation and the classification of images. The second part focuses on explaining symbolism of the natural images of Lawrence’s novels, which contains three aspects:first,"Romantic poets, expecting flow of the life", mainly talking about the natural fascination of Lawrence and the destruction of the natural and human vitality by industrial civilization; second,"sophisticated lover, seeking unity of soul and body ", mainly interpreting Lawrence’s gender viewpoint, that’s maintaining Star-balancing on the base of the unity of soul and body. Third,"lonely travelers, looking for poetic habitats", which is about the other way except adjusting gender relations in capitalist society, such as joining the natural, converting to the religion, or even coming to an end. The third part is about inheritance and innovation of the image of Lawrence’s novels. Three parts are related the images of nature closely.
