For water colors, it certainly gives life to color with water, making color transparent rich in permeability and liquidity. Our country has a long history of the ink, use the techniques of water and ink to pursue the scene of the picture, The combination of them make our country’s water colors rich in national flavor. Foreign critics say:"In Britain, the biggest achievement in art of radiant part is the water color, but no other country can match Britain except China in this aspect." The Chinese water color techniques definitely are confirmed the special class status in the world. There has been greal development in China watercolor today. So far, the style has changed a lot with its painting language enriched owing to the skills and ideas constantly being updated.The forms of expression of watercolor figure painting take on different looks as the time goes on. Generally, it falls into three trends:First, the watercolor painting seeks the features of traditional ink, making the watercolor painting a combination of Chinese and Western watercolor. Second, compared with the early Chinese watercolor paintings, it reaches a relatively deep and thorough characteristic as a consequence of absorbing the features of being deep and thorough of the oil painting. Third, try different styles anc comprehensive materials, and the watercolor painting takes on diversity in the picture.If some representatives were elected from this three development trends, there is no doub that there should be some old-generation artists such as Xu Beihong, Lin Fengmian Pang Xunqin, ChangYu, Wang Zhaomin, Harding, etc. and excellent culture of moderr and contemporary watercolor painting artists, such as Guan Weixing, Chen Chaosheng Chenjian, Wang Shaobo, Hou Anzhi, Lin Shaoling, Zhougang, Wang Weixin, Cher Guoqing, Huang Yaji. Therefore this paper is set in the background of the Chinese cultural environment and use the development of watercolor painting as the main clue to seek for the expression of the developing tendency and the future development directior of China watercolor painting through the analysis of the works of different individua character artists in different times.
