A Comparative Study Of Zhuangzi And Plato's Theory Of Freedom

Ancient Greek philosophy is very important source of western philosophical culture, the great philosopher, Plato is one of the most important persons of ancient Greek philosophical civilization, he has special idea and research on theory of freedom. The Pre-Qin period is the beginning of Chinese philosophical culture. As a important representative at that age, Zhuang Zhou has a unique view on theory of freedom as well. He make research on his theory of freedom according to both politic, culture, economic development and pre-Qin period social environment. Then he give an answer base on culture spirit, political situation and personal experience. So does Plato.Traditional thoughts about theory of freedom are not barrier for us to study on it in modern society. The challenge we face is that we should absorb in advantages of traditional thoughts, and use it to research on theory of freedom at present. Plato’s philosophical thinking is alive fossil of ancient Greek philosophy and civilization spirit. And Zhuang Zhou’s philosophical thinking is also one of bases of pre-Qin period philosophy and5000-year-old Chinese civilization. Therefore, compared with two sorts of philosophical thinking about theory of freedom, It is found that there is great difference between them by respectively studying on mode, think method, ideology and evolution roadmap. At some time, theory of freedom can place an effect and significance on culture, politic, attitude in life and people’s behavior.
