Based on the point-probe model, the present study attempts toresearch high self-monitoring and low self-monitoring individuals’preference of different picture of face. The purpose of this study is toexplore the impact about self-monitoring on face recognition. Besides,we also try to develop the theory of self-monitoring and facerecognition. Total40participants attend experiment1, they wereassigned into two groups: high self-monitoring group and lowself-monitoring group. The experimental session started with writteninstructions on the computer screen, followed by8training trials toassure that the subjects understand the instructions correctly.Subsequently the80trials were randomly assigned on the computerscreen using E-prime2.0software. A single trial started with thepresentation of a fixation cross (+) in the center of the screen. Thefixation cross was replaced by two pictures: self-face picture andother-face picture, Subjects were instructed to press the “f” on thekeyboard as quickly as they had recognized the fixation was on the leftside of screen. And they also can press the”j” if they had recognizedthe fixation was on the right side of screen. In order to make participantslook carefully, they were told that after this session. They also have torecognize these pictures into100pictures. The Experiment1lastedapproximately5min. We adopt affective priming paradigm inexperiment2. Firstly, we ask the participants to recall a refused situation. The back of the program was the same as the experiment1.This research gives the conclusions to be as follows:1)Highself-monitoring people prefer to other-face pictures and lowself-monitoring people keep the advantage of self-face recognition.2)When they also were rejected, high self-monitoring participants likepositive emotions faces, and low self-monitoring people prefer to negative emotions pictures.
