From1980s to the early1990s, the overall influxes of various western art theories and painting schools lead to the endless argument about the future of Chinese painting and how to deal with the relationship between tradition and innovation. However, modern Chinese ink painting rises up in this period. In the modernization process of ink painting, teacher Lu Chen is one of the earliest pioneers who make explorations in this field.Through the unscrambling the form composition works by teacher Lu Chen, synthetically utilizing both Chinese traditional structural drawing and western modern ways of analysis, taking artistic image "Geometrization" in creation as a point of penetration, introducing ink and washing paintings taking the theorem of planar formation, this paper deeply analyzes the form composition of his representative works, Clear and Bright and Painting of Fortress Competition, and ink and wash sketch Mr. Dongpo’s summertime, Two Elder Drinking Together, etc. and further appreciate the ingenious combination of the components and the art function played by the elements. Among those, the model feature of "Geometrization" is quite typical, which is full of echoes and comparisons with the form components. Meanwhile, in the ink and wash sketches, the art model of "Geometrization" is endowed with emotions, and based on the traditional cultural taste of ink and wash, which shows the vivid style and art effects with modern feelings.This paper analyzes the form and composition of teacher Lu Chen’s works, aiming to learn and study the laws of form and composition and to foster the form esthetic sense. Secondly, during the process of reading and arranging the materials, there is the chance of having better understanding of teacher Lu Chen’s whole life. Meanwhile, the paper carefully analyzes his art style and model characteristics in different periods and the national feelings expressed in his works.Teacher Lu Chen is a brilliant painter and art educator of Chinese painting field in the twentieth century. Back in the mid1980s, teacher Lu Chen took the lead in setting the classes of Ink and Washing Painting Component, Materials and Techniques and other classes in China Central Academy of Fine Arts and proposing "Chinese painting needs development based on modernization". Teacher devoted his whole life in the cause of art educating, and unswervingly explored the various form languages to create characters such as form analysis, planar formation and ink and washing component, etc. so that push forward the modernization of Chinese painting. Therefore, teacher Lu Chen made great contribution to the development of Chinese painting.
