Comic mini-plays featuring humorous dialogues and unique originality havebecome popular with the people who often take delight in talking about those wonderfulcomic dialogues which are constituted by turns. Turn-taking, which brings about theartistic quality and the magic of language,is quite phenomenal. The thesis adopts Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as the theoretical framework andmakes a partial selection of the previous comic mini-plays performed in CCTV springfestival performances as data, and is implemented under the guidance of the turn-takingsystem by Harvey Sacks. It integrates both qualitative and quantitative methods todiscuss the adaptation of turn-takings in comic mini-plays, and explores the effects ofadaptation.Research has demonstrated that Sacks’ turn-taking system is feasible to describe theturns of comic mini-plays. Performers constantly adapt themselves to thecommunicative context and linguistic structure of the roles they play and other rolesplayed by costars, and successfully create vivid characters through which the comicmini-plays win superb stage effects. |
