The construction "XP+DE+YP" is always a complex but interesting linguistic phenomenon in the study of Chinese syntax. We will confine the scope of our work to the case where the YP represents a nominal element (NP) and the XP contains a verb (which makes the XP a clause). However, even though the scope of the study is limited, the construction "XP+DE+YP" doesn’t demonstrate the homogeneity. Moreover, the fact that Chinese is typologically different from those abundantly studied languages in the framework of generative grammar (GG), such as English and French, renders its analysis difficult.Hence, in our work, by adopting the method of comparative analysis in the framework of GG, we will look for in the deep structure the similarities of relatives shared by Chinese and other languages; we will show in detail the syntactical characteristics of Chinese relatives and we will also elaborate some subtle distinctions inside of the construction "XP+DE+YP". Through these discussions, we are willing to response to the following questions:Which is the central element of the construction "XP+DE+YP" in respect of the syntactical function?Which are the principal strategies of relativization in Chinese and are they interchangeable or limited to some particular applications?Which is the deep structure (the derivation) of the Chinese relatives and is that of the universality? How to syntactically distinguish the relatives to the noun clauses in Chinese?Which are the different types of relatives in Chinese?Which is the element that connects the head N(oun) to the relative in the syntactical representation?...
