Le Clézio is a famous contemporary writer in France and he got theNobel Prize of literature in2008. Since his first novel“le procès verbal”waspublished in1963, he has endeavored to write amounts of works. Goingback to the creation course of Le Clézio, we can divide it by twophases. The first phase (1963–end of1970s) where his works related withFrance were focusing on the relationship between people and society. The second stage (end of1980s-up to now)where the author turned toanother world—Alien civilization. The works of Le Clézio are characterized by those who arevagabond in mind and manner. In his novels, the vagabonds aredivided by tree types according to the space where they are: somepeople drift in the modern city, others enjoy the landscape of the edgeof the city, the rest connect with the alien civilization in the pursuit ofpoetic adventure. In the author’s works, those who are either in themodern city or in the vast land of the original civilization, take initiative inliving a vagabond life. This phenomenon reflects that people reject themodern city civilization and eager to freedom and return to nature, thusresulting in two opposite space—nature and city and the natural. Theexotic people live a way of life--sensory intoxication and the naturalsound of language against materialism and colonial erosion arising frommodern civilization.Le Clézio once claimed to be an‘exile’,he always wander in twodifferent space---French society and exotic areas. The author’ svagabonding consciousness is not only closely related with hischildhood and family, but also reflected in the creative practice.
