Based on the interaction of music and abstract painting, this research is intended to further study the intension and mechanism of original designing stimulated by music in the process of artistic design. Adopting music sense as the guidance of design originality, this research has carried out a series of experiments, including "musical sense creation test","musical sense auxiliary scenario guide method" and "products sound and rhythm association". In the meantime, grounded theory which is an important qualitative approach is applied to analyze and induct the responses from test objects during different stages. Finally, the researches conclude the following findings:1.The feeling and association generated by music can guide designers to connect themes and contexts with relevant designing elements, which can assist designers to diverge and converge the concept and association of the context.2.New thoughts intrigued by the musical sound and rhythm present the characteristics of abstract thoughts, which leaves much room for designer’s free association. This makes the designers know what to do without the influence of existed forms.3.To innovative ideas resulted from musical symbols and semantic change, the research discovers that the symbol change is guided by graph, it is mainly a formal change of the signifier, whereas, new ideas triggered by music sense mainly focus on the sense change of signified.4. By the "shapelessness" of music, listeners can focus on describing feeling and pursuing experience, so the thinking processing of affect、stuff nature, context and concept are intensified. Centered around feelings and emotions, designers can establish the affect tone of context and products.5. Through musical sound and rhythm, designers can convert the auditory inspirations into visual products. The trans-sense integration can promote designers to reconsider their designed objects from various sense orientations of arts.
