He used his pen to describe the different life experiences, and he also expressed complex psychological feelings.This paper is based on the previous studies, trying to use its special life experiences as a clue.and it is combinated with text analysis and knowledge of psychology to discourse when Shen congwen experienced different living environment, the sense of identity which changed as a result of viewing angle changes. he Profoundly exposed the potential ills of the city and countryside in different perspectives. and he also intend to make rural and urban complementing each other in order to realize his national micro-enterprises? family-teaching market? government management rural works, we can in-depth interpretate the process of cognition about Shen congwen’s Western Hunan and the urban world.we can also analysis his position and the psychological choice between traditional and modern culture.This thesis is consisted of four parts:The first chapter is introduction. It generalized the previous research of Shen congwen’s literary works.Especially for the status quo of research on Urban Hunan and the urban areas of the world, It finds out the weak links of research and proposes the significance and contents of this research, besides it also expounds the basic problem.which need to be sloved in this paper.The second chapter focuses on narrativing when Shen congwen was caming to the city,he was full of dream.but the painful experience in the city which induced his inner sense of inferiority, So that he always felt he was a "countryman",In action of its role of psychological and external environment, so Shen congwen selected"Countryman"as its special status. He observed the urban life by viewing angle of"Countryman",and found the dark side of city that others couldn’t see. He removed the cloak of hypocrisy and restored a real city. He also beated low self-esteem and found self-confidence in the criticism of the city,and flet satisfied. At the same time when he suffered difficults and could’t stand, he turned his attention to the hometown, The warmth of family and memories to make him to forget the status quo.So Shen congwen found a source of strength when he was stopping in hometown. and found a balance point while under the double blow between spiritual and material.He continued his dream of the road.The third chapter focuses on interpretating that when Shen congwen has a certain position in the literary world after many years of effort,.He turned low self-esteem to self-confidence. The mental state changes which Social advancement brought had made Shen congwen Completely became into a"Urban people",He finished successfully changing from "Countryman" to"Urban people".so he began observing and thinking about everything as a "Urban people".Twice to return home, when he saw the "often" and"change" of the reality, he felt that the pure paradise was disappearred, while much of the hometown was the backward ideas which under the influence of ideology in the long history and also was the survival crisis behind the impact of modern social culture. Heavy hometown trip made Shen congwen to have a profound understanding of "regular" and "change".he began to worry about the future of Western Hunan, And actively calmly think and explore the road of the Western Hunan in the future.Also he hoped to achieve national rejuvenation through their own efforts.The fourth chapter focuses on the cultural ideals and cultural choices of shen congwen who had a dual cultural education. When he was in the city, he saw everything by viewing angle of"Countryman",City which in front of him was hypocritical and ugly, he charmed with the good human nature and original vitality of the village; When he was a firm foothold in the city,he observed everything as a"Urban people",and was grief of people’s conservatism and the gradually materialized ideas. Two identities, two perspectives which made the sensitive youth to wander alone between the two cultures.Shen congwen was extremely contradictory and was lost. He wanted to maintain the traditional culture and became much more modern at the same time.also Taking Chongqing family-teaching market for example traditional culture of nature.They could complement their own respective deficiencies. So he wanted to combine these two cultures together to achieve national progress. However, because that this wishes was far from the reality, it can only be an aspiration, and could not be achieved.
