A Research On Witch And Ghost Culture Written By Lu Xun And Shen Congwen

This paper mainly discusses the aesthetic presentation and philosophical thinking about witch and ghost culture in Lu Xun and Shen Congwen’s literary works. Lu Xun,who was like the elves in the night walk through the past, present and future, looking into his own soul all the time.Well,the beautiful and simple Xiangxi stimulated Shen Congwen’s creative inspiration.He dedicated to creating a romantic atmosphere full of witch and ghost, witch craft, wizards, gods and other folk customs and ceremonies into his field of vision. Behind this,it presented his praise on the original life power.The whole thesis includes five parts:"Introduction",three chapters and "Conclusion". Introduction introduces the causes of witch and ghost, the relation between them.Also the similarity of the ghost and literary creative thinking. Both of them have an important feature-imagination.The first chapter illustrates the origin of Lu Xun, Shen Congwen’s interest in the witch and ghost. That contained Chu Yue Wu ghost folklore and the accumulated experience of the writers’ life.The witch and ghost infected the writers’concept of literary history and literary creation.The second chapter explores the concrete expression of the witch and ghost culture in the writers’works. The Ghost shown by their works was another self-made of the writers.They had a spiritual dialogue. They thought about life, but also concerned about the soul after death. The witch and ghost existing in different time and space meeted in writer’s literary world.They thought about the nature of life between living and death.The third chapter considers the ghost culture on the vision of modernity. The two workers drawed lesson from some modern aesthetic factors. Their works about ghost and witch added new aesthetic factors to modern literature in language,image,structure and other aspects. On the other hand, Lu Xun, Shen Congwen rendered by the negative factors of the witch and ghost culture to "reveal agony, pay people’s attention to healing", which completed the mission of national character transformation of the modern literature was of great significance.Conclusion summarizes the significance and enlightenment of Lu Xun, Shen’s writing about witch and ghost in the history of Modern Chinese Literature. They endued the wicth and ghost culture with new art form and ideological content, continuing the ancient literary imagination between man and the witch and ghost. Also it provided a reference for the present literary creation.
