Sergei Vassilieviteh Rachmaninoff, born in1873——1943, was the most famousRussian music composer, pianist and conductor in the20th century. He completedSonata for cello and piano in the summer of1901and then became his only work.This piece of music is one of the masterpieces of the Cello Sonata in a music libraryin the world, and it has been completed after the success of c minor in second pianoconcerto, and became the most popular work during the peak time of his creativework. This piece of music, each movement displays deep and romantic personality ofcomposer. As Rachmaninov is a very excellent pianist, and his talent can bediscovered from all his works, but this does not mean that expression of the cello hasbeen completely ignored. This piece of first cello sonatas is full of great emotionaltension, through the harmony of the natural flow of melody lines and sound color, allof these has shown his profound talent in music. Rachmaninoff dedicated this song tohis best cellist friend Anatol Brandoukoff (1856~1930), and they premiere in Moscowat the end of1901. The four movements of this sonata were composed in the classicalform, of which the first movement is sonata, which shows sorrow prelude followed bypassional and lyrical allegro; the second movement is Rondo form, it is a piece ofrolling forward Scherzo; the third movement is long melody andante full of beautyand sorrow, the melody is very stunning; the fourth movement is a enthusiastic Sonata,the gorgeous ending emphasizes homophony.This thesis mainly analyzes performance features of four movements for celloand piano in Rachmaninoff’s Sonata for cello and piano in g minor, and discussesabout the importance of cooperation and coordination between cello and piano.Moreover, this thesis is aimed at letting more people know about the study ofRachmaninoff, a great composer of in the19th and20th century, and enjoying hisworks of Chamber music, particularly the Sonata for cello and piano in g minor,analyzing the emphasis and key point of cello in the sonata。...
