The period between the19th and the20th century was an era duringwhich a lot of musical styles and schools co-existed and competed on equalterms. It was during this period that the Russian composer SergeiVassilievitch Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) was born, he consistently adheredto the traditional Russian style of music and19th century romantic artconcept, he was recognized as the last one romanticism representativesof the20th century. Rachmaninoff’s music is broad and long, rich inemotions, his works are full of rich color creation, feeling of nostalgialike a long melody and determinate and deep tragedy forces. The "Sonatafor Cello and Piano in g Minor" is known as a medium-term works ofRachmaninoff realized in1901. The piano occupies a very importantposition in the whole work, the structure and musical arrangement of thecomposition express the accurate meaning of the music, at the same timeit fully manifests the style of Rachmaninoff.I take this work as researchproject, hoping that I can let the most people possible know this greatcomposer and this classical and beautiful piece of work.
