Chinese Character recognition is one of the research hotspots in ReadingPsychology. In the process of Chinese character recognition, how the individualrealizes its meaning through glyph? How about the time process of the activation ofform, sound and meaning? Especially the hottest issue is that which is first activatedbetween sound and meaning during the character recognition. Under the backgroundof the mother tongue, the research of the activation of Chinese glyph, sound andmeaning can disclose the mechanism of Chinese information process, and provideevidence for the universality and particularity of inter-language information process. The previous researches hardly reach a same conclusion, because they had differentmethods, tasks and objects. It is an urgent problem to find a suitable theory whichcould unify all these researches. To the problem above, this study adopts the stoop paradigm and its variants. Ittakes naxi children in the grade3, grade4and grade6of Qi Li He primary school inLijiang as test objects; it studies the time process of their learning Chinese, theresearch conclusion are as follows:(1) The naxi children’s Chinese character recognition process is: form is firstactivated, the activation starts from a strong status to a weak status, then return to thestrong, which has a “U” appearance. Meaning is the second, and then is the sound. But the activation is not completed in a second, the activation of the two has anappearance of inverted “U”, which starts from the weak to the strong, then to theweak. There is a kind of sequence among form, sound and meaning and coincidencein time.(2) Compared with former same kind of oral report which must has soundactivation, this research asks to press corresponding keys to answer, and the soundactivation is not necessary. But this experiment has obvious sound activation effect;it proves that, during the Chinese recognition process of naxi children, the sound isactivated automatically.(3) In the three experiments of the study, the reaction time of grade3and grade6 is shorter than that of grade4. The precision rate of grade3is obviously lower thanthat of grade4and grade6. It show that though the reaction time of grade3andgrade6is shorter than that of grade4, but grade3’s error rate is very high, whilegrade6’s reading level is much better.(4) The psychology process of a person is not a complete static process, but acontinuous dynamic one. In this research, the researcher does not take the activationof form, sound and meaning as isolated point, but take them as a continuousintegration.
